A Little Bit About Me

Lambing 2011

Hello! My name is Elie, but most call me Bunny. I'm pretty small but I've got some big dreams...

I'm pretty passionate about agriculture, and hope to run my own farm one day.  I enjoy the educational side of farming and firmly believe that the public have a right to know how their food is produced and where it comes from. If we are what we eat, then we should probably know what we're eating.

My wonderful Grandfather, Bob.
My earliest memories are of helping my Grandfather, Bob, on the family farm in Australia. Darcoola (meaning "Cool Waters") can be found on the Hay Plains of NSW and though she is currently a National Park, she was once a prospering sheep station of 30,000 acres with 10,000 Merinos producing Grade A wool. In the family for 3 generations (a long time for Australia) she was sold a few years after Grandpa Bob passed away in 1998. Darcoola remains dear in my heart, and my grandfather one of my biggest inspirations.

A small selection of my wonderful friends/family.
Right now I am studying Business Management (International Food and Agribusiness) at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. It's great fun and I am learning a lot about the world and myself. In my holidays I take up farm work wherever I can, be it helping with lambing or trying to keep up with the boys during harvest. I also once worked as an elf in Santa's Grotto, but that's another story...

After graduating I hope to move back to Australia, and set up an open farm for the public. Inspired by the amazing set of family and friends I have been blessed with, I want to create a space for others to learn and love. But, for now, this blog will have to do! I hope that this will be a platform for me to highlight some food issues, showing where things come from and how they are produced. Everyone has a right to know what is on their plate.

Peace, love and mud!
